Summer's daylilies

As the nights lengthen into winter, it’s time to catch up on some summer’s daylilies to liven things up a bit again. These beauties were from a visit to the Montreal Botanic Garden at the beginning of July, almost opposite to now, at the year’s longest days. Montreal’s collection of Hemerocallis is quite extensive and wraps though several beds curved along a small watercourse called the Ruisseau fleuri, the Flowery Brook. The botanic garden itself is enormous as well so I couldn’t capture them all in this short visit. But here’s a selection of the ones that did catch my eye. A large number of regular old Lilium and irises keep them company but those flowers will have to wait to brighten another darkening day.
