The Center for Urban Horticulture of the University of Washington Botanic Gardens

The Center for Urban Horticulture was founded in 1983 and is now part of the University of Washington Botanic Gardens. Its sixteen-acre landscaped site includes buildings and gardens, as well as the 74-acre Union Bay Natural Area which provides wildlife habitat and an outdoor laboratory for research. Merrill Hall houses the UWBG headquarters, the Elisabeth C. Miller Library and the Otis Douglas Hyde Herbarium. Over sixty horticultural and environmental groups meet in the Center's buildings. Visitors can also stroll through the Soest Herbaceous Display Garden, Goodfellow Grove, McVay Courtyard, Seattle Garden Club Fragrance Garden.
